Anyone know any natural ways of healing acne?

I’ve have recently gotten proactiv… don’t know if it will work, but i wanted to see if there was an alternative natural thing i can do… know anything about whether proactiv will work or natural healing ways… PLEASE DONT HESITATE AND HOLLER :)

Cleanse daily, avoid washing away natural oils with soaps or washes, this causes skin to produce more oil than normal which clogs pores. I recommend Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), it doesn’t strip away natural oils so is healthy, reduces acne and heals scars. Mix half Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) to moisturize and half Castor Oil (CO) to cleanse, change mix as your skin changes, also try adding tea tree oil as it’s antibacterial. Massage mix into your face, then put a hot face cloth onto your face for at least 1 minute, this opens up pores letting the oil cleanse. Wipe off oil, any trace amounts of oil are absorbed so skin won’t be greasy. http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.htm Have your own face cloth and towel, keep them clean and dry to avoid bacteria growth which can cause spots. Moisturize daily, as long as it’s not greasy it won’t cause spots, but don’t be scared to use oils such as Bio Oil which will heal scars too, remember oil is actually good for your skin.

Once a week steam to open pores by putting your head under a towel over a bowl of hot water, but don’t do this during breakouts as it stimulates blood flow and oil glands which can make things worse. Exfoliate weekly to scrub off dead skin, use something with rounded beads as things such as apricot kernels have sharp edges which cause small cuts leading to spots. Another way to exfoliate is cosmetic vinegar which also promotes circulation, regulates skins pH and is antiseptic. Mix 500ml of apple cider vinegar, 3ml lavender essential oil, 3ml rosemary essential oil, 2ml rosewood essential oil, and 2 tablespoons glycerine. Place into a glass bottle, use as cleanser by adding 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup of water. Try masks too, they are easy to make and there are many recipes online, see Make Your Own Cosmetics http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com or Pioneer Thinking http://www.pioneerthinking.com try this mask;

Strawberry acne mask;
Ingredients: ½ cup fresh strawberries, 1 egg white, 2 teaspoons of honey.
Mix together ingredients until smooth using a blender or a fork. To use spread over face and leave for 15 minutes, rinse off with cool water and pat dry. This one is good as strawberries are rich in salicylic acid which is commonly used in acne treatments, honey is also antibacterial.

Keep yourself healthy, diet is a big factor so make sure to get a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables as well as a lot of water, but avoid salty foods as iodine aggravates acne, try also a good multivitamin – vitamins A, B6, zinc and chromium help to clean up acne. Get plenty of exercise, sleep and stay stress-free. Pay particular attention to your skin during harsh weather when it is more prone to damage, also avoid agrivation from the sun by using plenty of sunscreen. Make-up is best avoided all together, but if you do wear it use as little as possible and keep your make-up clean as dirty sponges or hands in make-up causes spots. Use mineral foundation as it has great coverage but is light so won’t clog pores and is free from harmful ingredients, most commercial brands make mineral ranges now so it’s easy to find.

This is what I do: In the Mornings I use Apricot Scrub: Invigorating. Afterwards I follow with putting some Boots No7 Soft & Soothed Toner on a slightly damp cotton pad and waiting for it to dry completely, and then put on a doctor prescribed medication. Once a week, instead of using Apricot Scrub, I use the Mask part of Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask then follow with my regular routine. Every night before going to bed I use Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Cleanser with Microclear Technology and continue with using Boots No7 Soft & Soothed Toner and the doctor prescribed medication.

Almost everything I have, I bought at Target. These are the prices:
    Apricot Scrub: Invigorating: ~$4.00
    Boots No7 Soft & Soothed Toner: ~$8.00
    Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask: ~$8.00
Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Cleanser with Microclear Technology: ~$8.00

    Sam’s Club:
Doctor Prescribed Medication: ~$5.00 (Ask your doctor about a treatment you could use and they should give you a prescription.)

    ONE INGREDIENT RECIPES:

    Tomato Juice Mask
Plain tomato juice can be applied for about 15-20 minutes.
    Egg White Facial
Simply separate a few raw egg whites into a bowl and apply directly on the facial skin after cleansing. Let the egg white dry for 10-20 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water for an instant glow.
    Egg Yolk Mask
Simply stir up 1 egg yolk very well. Apply all over face for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
    Honey Mask
Massage a small amount of slightly heated honey onto skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to wash off all the honey with lukewarm water or the honey left will clog your pores, resulting in more acne. Wheat germ may be added for its abrasive action, protein and nutrients.
    Banana Mask
Peel the skin off and mash the whole banana. Apply on all over your face and relax for 30 minutes. Then rinse using warm water.
    Carrot Mask
Cook two carrots until able to be mashed with a fork. Spread evenly over face and allow to dry. Rinse with tepid water.
    Cucumber Mask
A small amount of mashed cucumber applied over the face will hydrate and refresh. Leave on face up to twenty minutes and rinse. Place a couple slices over the eyes for soothing eye treatment at the same time!
    Oatmeal Scrub
Oatmeal when mashed not only acts as a great scrub but also effectively soaks away the excess oil from your face. The usage of oatmeal paste must be followed by a cold water rinse that helps in contracting the pores.
    Baking Soda Scrub
You can use baking soda as an exfoliator: be careful when applying it to your face, since it is a very effective scrub. Massage the baking soda into your skin for ten to fifteen seconds and rinse.
    Seawater Wash
Wash your face twice a day in warm, salty water.
    Grapes
Before bed wash your face and moisturize, then take a green grape, cut it in half, and massage the open ended juice onto the problem areas.
    Elmer’s Glue
Use Elmer’s glue on your face to get rid of blackheads. Simply apply the glue to your face and peel off when dry.
    Neosporin
Use Neosporin on stubborn whiteheads, pimples, and/or scars overnight to help clear and heal skin.
    Toothpaste
Put toothpaste on your pimples for 15 minutes or overnight, this should help reduce swelling without clogging the pore more. Make sure it is the paste not the gel.
    Icy Pores
If you feel your pores are too large, every morning before you put on your make up rub an ice cube all over your face then clean and dry your face. Your face should now look and feel tighter, and then when you apply your powder or foundation, it will look smoother.
    Ice
If you feel a pimple in your skin that hasn’t quite appeared yet, wrap an ice cube in a thick cloth and hold it on the suspected spot, take off after 15-20 min.

HONEY: Honey is rich and thick, making it an effective moisturizer. Like other humectants, honey binds moisture to the skin and helps it stay hydrated. Honey contains powerful antioxidants which fight free radicals and reverse ageing. Honey is a well known antibacterial and antifungal agent. It helps disinfect and speed the healing process in wounds, scrapes and burns.
NEOSPORIN: It kills bacteria, speeds the healing of wounds, and can minimize the appearance of small scars. Neosporin’s combination of Bacitracin, Neomycin, and Polymixin-B kills a broad range of bacteria beyond the typical acne treatments such as benzoyl peroxide. Also, unlike BP, Neosporin is unlikely to cause drying since it uses an oil base (something that acne sufferers typically try to avoid – however, it’s actually the oil underneath the surface that your glands produce which is more likely to become a barrier to clear skin). It also causes reduction of redness makes spots less obvious.
SALT: Salt is a great exfoliator and helps leave your face clean and oil-free — without employing any potentially irritating products or soaps.
BANANA: Banana is a good source of fiber, potassium and Vitamin C; these are very good for our skin. It will nourish your face, avoid early ageing and prevent untimely formation of wrinkles. Bananas contain tryptophan, a rich amino acid that is known to be extremely beneficial to skin. Along with vitamins A, B, and E bananas contain rich natural oils and carbohydrates.
GRAPES: OPCs are antioxidants that fight harmful free radicals, protecting from collagen loss and skin breakdown. In addition, they also keep blood vessels strong, allowing blood circulation to deliver beneficial nutrients to skin. These nutrients aid in repairing skin cell damage, writes dermatologist Nicholas Perricone, M.D., in his book, The Clear Skin Prescription: The Perricone Program to Eliminate Problem Skin.
Resveratrol is another antioxidant found in grapes and wine. Some research suggests it shields against skin cancer. According to one study, resveratrol defends skin cells from skin cancer following exposure to UVB rays by lowering survivin (which controls cell division), reports Science Daily.
OATS: Dryness fighting: Oats contain polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water and leave a fine protective film on the skin, preventing dull, flaky dryness. Moisturizing: Oats are full of healthy, lubricating fats. Defense building: The proteins in oatmeal help maintain the skin’s natural barrier function, which is what ensures that the world outside the skin stays out, and what’s inside the skin stays in. Pore cleansing: Oats are filled with natural cleansers (called saponins) that gently remove dirt and oil from the pores.
BAKING SODA: The whole point to exfoliating is to remove dead skin cells and create smoother more radiant skin. Baking soda’s natural abrasive texture combined with its acidic neutrality makes it the best for this exfoliating process.
EGG WHITES: White of the eggs act as a skin tightener. Such packs are also extremely useful for people with an oily skin. Egg whites also help acne and blackheads.
EGG YOLKS: The Vitamin E in Egg yolks helps anti-aging; The Vitamin A helps soften the skin, and the Vitamin D helps give skin a healthy glow.
TOMATO: The Vitamin A in the Tomato helps soften the skin, along with the fact that it’s 94% water.
CUCUMBER: Cucumbers literally cool your skin while it cleanses. Because of its cooling property, it helps diminish red spots on the skin. It’s also 96% water, so it helps to moisturize the skin without any unnecessary oils.
